Facts of Life

Last Friday, I delivered a one hour talk on “The Reality of Living” to 98 people who were gathered to attend a special 2 days program in a very well maintained training camp. These people were selected by the government through its Ministry. In my talk, I touched on several pointers, elaborating and citing examples as well as interacting with the audience. Below are some of the gists of it;

Fact of Life 1: WE ARE HUMAN
We are HUMAN beings. We are the best ‘creation’ ever created in this universe. We are ‘Asraful Mahluqats’. What makes us HUMAN is because we are blessed with ‘Aqal & Fikir’ and ‘Nafsu’. More importantly is because we have ‘faith’ which is built through our belief system. Our mission in life is not to be ‘angels’ and definitely not to be ‘animals’ but to be humane and prove ourselves to be the human being that the creator wants us to be. As human beings, none of us (nobody) is perfect. We all have strengths and weaknesses unique to ourselves.

Action Points: Learn and understand our mission in life as human being. We do have specific roles and responsibilities. Be grateful on our strengths and strive to overcome our weaknesses. Be Faith-full. If we are derailed, we need to get back on track. That’s what, life long learning is all about.

Fact of Life 2: LIFE IS A JOURNEY
Life is a journey and NOT a destination. The world we live in today is actually just a Transit Point to the next world popularly known as ‘hereafter’ or ‘Akhirat’. This world is just like a mirror of the next world. Whatever we can find in this world, can also be found in the next world but to a much greater extent beyond our imagination. This is faith.

Action Points: Though a mere short transit time, our life in this world is crucial and is detrimental to our ‘conditions’ in the next point. We craft our ‘quality of life’ in the hereafter ‘NOW’ in this world.

Fact of Life 3: CHANGE IS CONSTANT
As said by many prominent management gurus, scientist, spiritual leaders, CHANGE is one of the most glaring constant in life. Whether we like it or not, the world we live in is changing with every breath that we take. The rippling effect of change is so tremendous and when the wave of change comes about, nobody is spared. The key word for us to note here is ‘adaptive’ to change. As we all know, at one time this world was inhabited by dinosaurs that were gigantic beings but went extinct because they failed to adapt with the changing environment. Harsh as it may sound, but either we change or we could be changed.

Action Points : Make a decision to change. God will NOT change our future unless we change ourselves. The fact is, we have been ‘empowered’ to bring about change in our quality of life. For better or worst. It is all up to us.

Fact of Life 4: TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE
Every one of us is given 24 hours a day. No more, no less. Time is not bias to gender, color, social status, rank or designation. Time wait for no one. When the sun rises or sets, no one can stop it. Not even the most powerful or wealthiest or most pious beings on earth. We are helpless as far as controlling time. Time flies at its own course. So how then can we manage time? We can’t. We can only manage activity NOT time. In today’s world, people measure distance with time not just kilometers. People demand for speed of delivery. To win over speed is not by managing the time, but by managing the activities.

Action Points : Time do not wait for us. So do opportunity. Though people say that late is better than never, but the fact is, if we are late, WE are late! We are left behind. If that happens, we can just watch things happen. So, seize the day!

Fact of Life 5: INVISIBLE LAW OF THE UNIVERSE
The world we live in today is alive. We are not alone in this universe. There are other creations that make up the world. That is why; the universe is governed by an unseen force which some people called as the ‘Invisible Law of the Universe’. That is what that make the planets move in orbits, biological organs in our body e.g. our heart functions without will, our nail and hair grows with nature, day and nights evolves, digestive system functions etc. Some of the most popular known Law of the Universe are the Law Of Physic, Law Of Gravity, Law Of the Mind, Law Of Cause And Effect, Law Of Attraction, The Law Of Sow And Reap, Law Of Reverse Effort and many more. There is a system or formula that has been programmed for this world to function. If we go against it, inevitably there will be problems, repercussion and other side effects. Why? That is the Law of the Universe.

Action Points : Live in harmony with the universe. Live in harmony with nature.

Fact of Life 6: ALL PROBLEMS HAVE SOLUTIONS
Nothing in this world happens by coincidence. There are reasons and meanings to everything that happens in this world. As much as this world operates in an unseen system, they are also programmed to provide solutions. These solutions, once found, not only relieve us from the problems, but would pose as invaluable lessons that carve wisdom into us. We just need to discover them.

Action Points : Do not ever give up. There are solutions to every problem. In fact, there could be opportunities behind the problem we encounter. Work on it; don’t sit on it, because ignoring a problem won’t solve the problem.

The remaining pointers on the Facts of Life will be up in my next post.

Salam and Peace be with you.

The Side Effect of Fear

This post is in responce to the comments received, which I find to be very true, down-to-earth, very relevant and sincerely mooted. What I write here is strictly my personal opinion to the comments in the perspective that I am focusing on i.e. in Puncakmaya House of Balance Living, and definately NOT a prescription for others. Further guidance cannot be done merely through these writings. Personalize attention or assistance may be required - Disclaimer :-)

Comment 1. “ What if I want to make a decision but do not know what decision to make?”

My respond and Possible Solution: I understand this question. I have encontered the same situations before. Believe me, I know how it feels. Nevertheless, I am afraid there is no short-cut answer to this question. But now I realized, there is a possible short answer : Free ourselves from being too dependent or influenced by others. The journey of life is for us to discover NOT others. This is our life. Make our stand. No one make decision for us. Others are there to help and assist. We decide. (And please, avoid the attitude of blaming other people for making decision that doesn’t work for us.) Believe me, the real answer is in us. Buried somewhere inside us. (Learn the art and science of Musyarah dan Istiqarah). Search for the truth, search in within, then we will find it. If we can’t, no one else can.

Another thing, if a decision needs to be made, to solve a problem. For our own goodness, make the decision. Do not procastinate. Ignoring a problem will not solve the problem. We all make mistakes sometimes. Look at it this way " mistakes enhanced our wisdom". There is seldom a perfect situation. Once a decision is made by virtue of musyarah and istiqarah, Tawakkal Allallah. Believe in ourselves and have faith in His devine guidance.

Comment 2: “I agree, in whatever we do, our first action would be to make a decision. eg decide to eat then we will search for things to eat and eat them as well. But, some of us are too afraid to make change either because we are afraid of the unfamiliar or because we are comfortable with the way things are. No rocking the boat. How can we shake ourselves into making a decision and applying those decisions as well?”

My respond and Possible Solution: Fear is common and natural. It is in born since the days of Adam and Eve. We all have fears in a way or another. I encounered fear contless time and again in my life. But as a reminder to all of us, FEAR or being afraid, is one of mankind greatest enemy! Under the Law of Reverse Effort, What we fear will happen! Every time we dwell on fear, we are actually giving energy to it. Empowering it more and more! The more we fear, the more will the possibility of it to happen. Some kids contracted fever due to Fear of ghost under their bed or in the dark. Many people who suffered from various ailments e.g cancer, died faster from the moment they realize they contracted the disease. Why? Because of their fear of death! Many people got cheated in business or in marital problems, because of their fear of being cheated. And many more cases. In short, Free ourselves from Fear.

Again, the most possible feedback here is HOW do we deal with fear? How to manage Fear? Can Fear be managed? Is there any technique? … Seek and we will find! As the saying goes “when the student is ready, the teacher will come”. I wish you all the best.

Our Decisions Affect Our Life Journey

This post is in part inspired by 'aragangtandik' :-). I thank her for the comment. Knowing her, I believe there is more inspiring words of wisdom to come :-) . The quote she shared this time round is very interesting i.e. " Freedom is not the ability to do whatever one wants to do BUT FREEDOM is the ability to do things that OUGHT to be done”. Below are my comments.

Everyone including us, have different interpretation or perception about 'Freedom' or other things in 'life'. Based on my life-long informal research here are some of my findings;

  1. Whatever current interpretations people make in life is, in fact, influenced by their past experience or conditions.
  2. That is absolutely natural, because perception or in other words ‘how we see things’ is a manifestation of our feelings – e.g. happy or unhappy, feel good or bad, angry or elated, secure or insecure, fortunate or miserable etc. These feelings will definitely influence ‘how we see things’.
  3. How we feel, will trigger our body system consciously or unconsciously, which will eventually affect the quality of decisions and actions we take at that particular point in time. Unknowingly this is one of the vital mechanism that create what we now called as ‘behavior’. If this goes on it will become our behavioral pattern and later becomes our ‘Attitude’.
  4. Our actions, in return, will definitely affect the quality of re-actions (or counter actions) we get from other beings (especially people). This is true by the Law of the Universe or Sunnatullah i.e under the Law of Cause and Effect and Law of Action and Attraction or Law of Reverse Effort.
  5. Again the re-actions we get ( which later becomes our life experiences or conditions ) will affect our feelings and actions and the whole cycle repeats.–
  6. Ironically, by virtue of the Law of the Universe, the cycle will go on repeatedly, in fact, non-stop, throughout our lifetime until we ‘Change’ our behavioral pattern.

Hence, the quote that aragangtandik shared is indeed interesting " Freedom is not the ability to do whatever one wants to do, but freedom is the ability to do things that ought to be done”.

Personally, I think we should focus on the key words that I highlighted in capital. Some of the areas we should also look into in relation to the key words are as follows; WANTS: influenced by requirements, needs, beliefs, concerns, conscience, principles, wisdom ABILITY : influenced by knowledge, competencies, practice, wisdom. OUGHT TO BE DONE : is subjective and also influenced by situations, wants, belief, knowledge, requirements, ability, wisdom etc..

RECOMMENDED DECISION

My approach in Puncakmaya House of Balance Living is to seek possible and potential solutions to an issue that is brought up. Life is a journey, to move forward, we need to make decision. What we decide today will affect our life tomorrow. ( as much as how we are today is the results of our past decisions and actions ). Here are my recommended decision for this juncture.

If you think that what I have shared above makes sense to you, and you feel that you are in a way experiencing those pointers and you want to know more…

  1. Make a decision to make a DECISION
  2. Make a decision to CHANGE
  3. Change begins in YOU!

Rational of decision:

  1. If we continue to do the same things over and over again, we will continue to get what we have always been getting over and over again. If you wish to achieve different things, make a decision to do things differently or doing other things.
  2. If we keep on opening and using the same door, we will keep on entering the same garden. If you wish to enter different gardens, make a decision to use and open different doors.

I am not surprise that, this will lead to the big question : HOW?

That is what we do in Puncakmaya House of Balance Living. We not only highlight areas of concern that requires attention in this journey of life. We not only to tell how, but ; share, teach and guide you with practical techniques that have been proven to be effective.

These techniques are the results of life-long research on the secret treasures of our ancestors, blended with the art and science of this new millennium. These techniques can be yours to take home if you want to. Yes, ONLY if you want to.

Thank You

Salam and Peace be with you

Greetings

Salam and greetings

I would like to begin this blog by praising the Almighty creator for all the ‘Rahmat’ and ‘Nikmat’ as well as the ‘Challenges’ and ‘Difficulties’ that He has given us. I sincerely believe that nothing in this world happen by coincidence. There are reasons practically to everything. The ups and downs that we encounter in life can be very meaningful if we understand them. The universe that He had created for us provides clues, signals and messages that come in various forms such as incidents, conditions or circumstances. It is entirely up to us - to cherish or regret. To sit on it or do something about it.

This blog is created basically for two reasons. Firstly, to help me to keep pace and momentum on the book I am currently writing. I actually started writing the book since 02 April 2002. Unfortunately, a great deal of the content was lost when my laptop was stolen last year. From that day onwards, I always keep external drive to backup my work. In a way, this blog would come in handy too.

Secondly, I hope that through this blog, I will be able to share and exchange life experience with people who endure the same interest and passion especially in search for peace, love, health, prosperity, balance living and desired freedom. These are moving targets since Life is a journey.

Please feel free to respond and participate in this blog (or endeavor). You can do so in English or Malay. Otherwise, you can just sit back and relax as you read. No compulsion at all.

Thank you Macik Liau, for teaching me to make this blog.
